Today was a beautiful day. Not only because of the gorgeous weather but because my family and I got to host the coffee hour reception to honor John. In case you didn't know, since we couldn't do the coffee hour on the 40th Day Memorial Sunday because of the church banquet, we wanted to do it for John's birthday which is actually tomorrow on October 13th. The yellow roses we had as the centerpiece on the food table were in representation of "the Yellow Rose of Texas". John was from Tyler, Texas. And also, in many Eastern cultures, the color yellow represents joy, and wisdom. My entire family and several friends were a great help in preparing and setting up the reception. Thank you goes to Vanda, Marcia, Beth, Susan and Jerry. My 7 year old grandson, John Jeremiah, even helped prepare the fruit and set the table. He's such a sweet boy and wants to be like his Grandaddy when he grows up. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. After cleaning the hall, our whole family (with the exception of Aaron Thomas who was working St George's Cathedral Food Festival) took the roses out to John's grave and sang the Thrice Holy Hymn praising God for all His blessings.
Love and Thanksgiving, Nila

Thank you, Nila, and all your family for the wonderful coffee hour.

Speaking of "Texas", being an ardent OU Fan myself, the sting of defeat is pretty sweet actually, knowing that this year the Red River Rivalry turned out exactly how John would've wanted it to.

God bless you!

Daddy will be greatly missed, especially today. His influence has been seen all over OKC and further. Thank you to all those who were with us through the best and worst of times. We sincerely appreciate you.

Please think of Dad today and always.

His daughter, Heather
