Let's just say it's been a challenging couple of weeks. I am sorry I haven't updated the blog but have been pretty busy taking care of John and my job. I get kinda tired and forget until it's too late at night. Forgive me.
John started out feeling "okay" but that has quickly changed to "not so good". He is unable to eat anything (including soup) without pain. We have been to a dietician who sat with us, one on one, for 2 hours and she explained everything we needed to know concerning diabetes. That, thankfully with Ms. Diane Brown's, help is finally under control. But the pancreatic enzymes are not helping anymore and the pain is pretty intense. His pain meds have been upped but are causing other 'stomache issues.' He is meeting with a pain management surgeon tomorrow to see about a procedure which John Hopkins/Sol Goldman Pancreatic Cancer Research Center (http://pathology.jhu.edu/pancreas/PartPain.php) recommends, we pray it will help him eat and attain some good quality of life for the next few months. The insurance company has preauthorized this procedure thank GOD!
Since he hasn't been able to eat very much he has lost more weight and is pretty weak. As some of you are aware he attended Liturgy yesterday but could not serve the altar as is his calling in life. He is well aware of everyone's love for him and saw all of your smiles and acknowledgements of him as you passed. We wished we could have stayed and visit with everyone but he needed to lay down. My boss has allowed me to work from home during part of each day so I can at least be with him. Our company server makes it so it's just like being there. They are great people to work for and very understanding.
Please continue to pray for John (as we know you do) and that our appointment tomorrow is successful.

John and Nila,
We hope John can get help for his discomfort. We are glad the insurance co. preauthorized the procedure, and we hope your day goes well.
Love,
Donna and Herb
I talked with Sara on the way to the car after church Sunday and she filled me in on how John was not being able to eat anything and to keep him in my prayers. I told her that he is in my prayers day and night. I'm thankfull that the insurance copmany has preauthorized the next procedure and pray it can bring him some comfort. Hopefully you will be able to have the procedure done very soon and we can see John with his big smile and not so much pain.
Love to John, Nila, and their family and may God comfort you all,
Marcia
Dutcher family, you are all in my prayers. Your faith and courage astonish me, truly. I pray that the procedure will help John deal with the pain and give him at least some degree of relief.
May God keep you. Love to you all.
